Egypt The Double Crown and the Three Kingdoms Activity

Deep Fried and Unified
If you go to the state fair, or if you grew up in the American south like I did, you know that they deep fry everything these days, including pickles, candy bars, and even ice cream. I don’t know how they do it. Or why. In the process, however, something new is created. Something good.
King Narmer did that when he combined or “united” upper and lower Egypt. What he created by unifying Egypt was not only unique and special, it was better. By combining the red and the white crowns, symbols of upper and lower Egypt, he created something much better.
For this activity I want you to think about the United States and our neighbors to the north and south, Canada and Mexico. Now think about some things that symbolize the unique nature of each country. Like King Narmer, you must choose symbols for the United States and for one of its neighbors and combine them to create a deep fried, unified country.
Begin by listing some ideas for symbols for each country below. Afterwards, please use an 8 1/2 X 11 inch piece of paper to draw and color your symbol of unification. You only need to unite the U.S. with one of its neighbors and you may work with one partner.
